For 14 years, I worked behind the chair as a licensed cosmetologist. During that time, I had the privilege of caring for people with many different hair types, textures and concerns. Some came to me for routine maintenance or a new style. Others were searching for support as they experienced thinning, excessive shedding, breakage and changes in the health of their hair and scalp.
Those conversations stayed with me.
I saw firsthand that hair loss is rarely "just hair loss." Hair can be deeply connected to identity, confidence, culture and the way we recognize ourselves. When it begins to change, the emotional impact can reach far beyond the mirror.
Many of my clients had already tried countless products without finding the support they needed. They were frustrated by temporary solutions, confusing information and routines that did not consider the full relationship between the scalp, hair follicle, hair strand and overall wellness. I listened to their experiences and helped them care for their hair with compassion, patience and professional understanding.
Then hair loss became part of my own journey.
Even with my background as a cosmetologist, experiencing hair loss personally gave me an entirely different perspective. I understood the uncertainty of trying to identify what your hair needs, the disappointment of products that do not live up to their promises and the vulnerability of watching something so connected to your identity begin to change.
My professional experience helped me understand the mechanics of hair and scalp care. My personal experience helped me understand the emotional journey.
That intersection became the foundation of Koriem.
I created Koriem because I wanted more thoughtful options for myself, for the clients who had trusted me with their stories and for anyone who felt unseen by conventional hair care. I began studying ingredients more deeply and exploring how intentional formulation could support the scalp, strengthen the hair and create a more meaningful approach to daily care.
What began as a personal search for answers grew into a passion for formulation and holistic hair wellness.
As the founder and formulator of Koriem, I bring together 14 years of hands-on cosmetology experience, direct work with people struggling with hair loss and the understanding that comes from walking through my own transformation. Every Koriem formula is created with intention and designed to serve a meaningful purpose within the hair and scalp wellness process.
Koriem is not built around disguising concerns or chasing overnight transformations. It is built around education, consistency and purposeful care.
